News from May 27, 2016
On May 27th 2016 SteBis yet again hosted an Online-Webinar for the professional development qualification of junior scientists. The lecturer was the renowned Professor for psychological methods, Prof. Dr. Philipp Mayring from the AAU in Klagenfurt.
Around 87 participants from either the same funding line or adjacent research fields benefited from the free of charge webinar. Regarding content, terminology of Mixed Methods was classified in relation to related concepts such as Triangulation and lines of development were reflected.
The significance of Mixed Methods was to be worked out in the controversial methods debate of today´s social studies. Furthermore the scientific theoretic reasoning (constructivist, pragmatic, and dialectic argumentation) as well as the taking of quality criteria as a basis were discussed. In addition, several models of combination and integration of qualitative and quantitative approached were introduced.
Parallel to the lecture the participants had the opportunity to ask questions or if necessary exchange views in the chat forum. Subsequently to the lecture a vivacious discussion took place.
SteBis thanks all participants and of course especially Prof. Dr. Phillip Mayring for an inspiring webinar and looks forward to the next event.
